We are doing our best to produce sustainable high quality packaging in a respectful way for the environment. We believe that small steps will make the difference!

PRINCIPLES:

1. Reusable packaging:

The most sustainable packaging is packaging is the one that can be used over and over again.
Italpack has launched a reusable product called Eco Carton that consumer’s can use repeatedly for bulk food products. They can rinse the Eco Carton after use, and refill in their local shops.

2. Extending shelf-life:

Although packaging always has an environmental impact, it is essential to extend a the product’s shelf life and reduce food waste.

The environmental impact of food waste if protective packaging were not used, is actually often greater than the negative environmental impacts of the packaging itself

Our approach:

It’s hard to choose the best packaging option. Many options are available: recycled, recyclable, bio-plastic, compostable: each of them provides advantages and disadvantages

At Italpack, we focus on two essential phases of the product life cycle; the raw materials and what becomes our end-of-life product.

The Source:

The basis of all our products is cardboard which is made from wood pulp, a 100% renewable resource.
To ensure the forests are managed in a sustainable way we offer an FSC certified option for most of our products. 40% of packs produced in 2019 are FSC labeled a percentage we are striving to increase. Many products do contain a thin plastic coating which is made from non-renewable products. These products are recyclable and frequently recycled.

End of Life:

All our products can be recycled where schemes exist for recycling standard gable top packaging (schemes differ from country to country and even city to city in some cases)
